Honors 7/8 Math Compacted Class
The Honors 7/8 Math Compacted class is a combination of both 7th and 8th grade honors math. By 8th grade, students will take Secondary Math 1, which counts towards high school graduation. Students who are part of the advanced math class will ultimately finish high school math requirements two years early and will have the opportunity to take other classes. It is important to note that students must take Secondary Math 1, 2, & 3 in order to graduate high school. Scholarships and higher education may require students to take more math beyond Secondary Math 3. In order to be considered for the advanced math class, students must take the IOWA and the CogAT test to see if they qualify. Wasatch will notify parents if their students qualify or don't qualify before June.

CogAT Quantitative Subtest
What is it?
The CogAT Quantitative Subtest is part of the Granite School District's Gifted and Talented Program testing. The advanced math class is not a gifted and talented class, but it does require the CogAT in order to be considered for the class. If your student is already taking the gifted and talented test at school, they will not have to take the CogAT separately. The CogAT will be administered to them when they take the gifted and talented test.
